HMX Egg Yolk Linear Switch (Clacky and Poppy Sounding)

The HMX Egg Yolk Linear Switch is the first HMX switch to feature their innovative Hybrid Molding System, allowing the bottom housing and center mast to be made from different materials.

For Egg Yolk, the bottom housing uses durable PA66 with 10% fiberglass, while the center mast is molded from HMX's S1 blend. This unique combination delivers a crisp, clacky, and exceptionally clean sound profile while maintaining excellent structural integrity.

The Hybrid Molding System makes it possible to utilize specialty materials like S1 in ways that were previously impractical, opening new possibilities for switch sound and feel customization.

Finished with HMX's renowned factory lubrication, the Egg Yolk offers outstanding smoothness right out of the box. It is one of HMX's most balanced and best-sounding clacky linear switches to date.

The clacky sound is exactly what I was hoping for—crisp without being too high-pitched. Installed ten of them on my alphas and the factory lube is perfectly applied, no scratchiness at all.

I was really impressed by how consistent the feel is across all ten switches—the factory lube job is even and smooth right out of the bag. The hybrid molding system definitely gives the bottom housing a tighter, more solid fit than other linear switches I’ve tried. They produce that poppy clack with

The sound is exactly as described—clacky and poppy, which gives my typing a satisfying rhythm. The hybrid molding on the bottom housing makes them feel smoother than I expected for factory-lubed switches.
